Kennedy Agyapong and other top politicians who own media houses in Ghana

In Ghana, media ownership is not restricted even though many believe that media houses should be free of influence. Thus politicians, like other business persons, are allowed to own media houses.

1. Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong is the owner of Kencity Multimedia which consists of NET 2 TV and Oman FM. In 2006, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central established Oman FM and NET 2 TV both located at Madina. Kennedy Agyapong is a top politician from the New Patriotic Party.

2. Dr. Kwabena Duffour

Kwabena Duffuor is the owner of EIB Network which consists of Starr FM, GH One TV, Live FM among others. Mr. Duffuor is a politician from the National Democratic Congress. Before politics, Dr. Duffuor was the governor of the Bank of Ghana. He later served as Minister of Finance under the Atta Mills government. He is currently the Chairman of Star Assurance, EIB Network and a host of other businesses.

3. Julius Debrah

Julius Debrah is the owner of Accra-based radio stations, Power FM and Radio XYZ. Mr. Debrah is a top politician from the National Democratic Congress. He served in so many capacities under the NDC government. Notable among them was his position as Chief of Staff under the John Mahama administration. Currently he is an aide and close associate of former president John Dramani Mahama.

4. Ofosu Ampofo

Ofosu Ampofo is the owner of Accra-based radio station, Ahotor FM. Mr. Ampofo is a top politician from the National Democratic Congress. He served as a Minister under the NDC government. Currently, he is the National Chairman of the NDC.

5. Paa Kwesi Nduom

Paa Kwesi Nduom is the owner of GN Media which consists of GN TV, Eazy FM among others. Mr. Nduom is the founder and former flagbearer of Progressive People's Party. Before founding his own party, he served as a Minister under the NPP administration. Currently he is the Chairman of Group Nduom.
