Ghanaian Prof Wisdom Tettey becomes principal of University of Toronto

The story is reported of Wisdom Tettey, a Ghanaian scholar who has been installed as the new vice president and principal of the University of Toronto-Scarborough in the largest city of Canada.

Professor Tettey's appointment was made in 2018 but his investiture was done on February, 25, 2019.

Joe Kingsley Eyiah reports that Prof Tettey's installation took place at the Scarborough campus of the University of Toronto amidst academic pageantry with the blasting of Ghanaian traditional song in the background.

The ceremony was well attended by dignitaries and academia including the Vice Chancellor, academic staff, students and family members/representatives from the Toronto Ghanaian community.

Professor Wisdom Tettey is a political scientist and a leading researcher on the African diaspora, politics and media.

Prof Tettey graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon before embarking on postgraduate studies in Ghana over a decade ago.

He was previously the Dean of Arts and Sciences at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus would now serve a five-year term at the University of Toronto-Scarborough.

This was before Queen’s University, where he received his PhD in political studies and began his academic career.
