NDC women pray for Akufo-Addo to have the stamina to accept defeat in 2020

- Eastern Regional Women Organizer of the NDC has called for special prayers for President Akufo-Addo

- According to Shirley Naana Ampem, Akufo-Addo needs the prayers to be able to emulate the statesmanship exhibited by former president John Mahama when he loses the 2020 election

The Eastern Regional Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Shirley Naana Ampem, says Ghanaians need to pray hard so that President Akufo-Addo will peacefully accept defeat if he loses in 2020.

According to her, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must be willing to accept defeat should they lose in the 2020 polls.

She said former president John Mahama exhibited strong statesmanship by accepting defeat in the 2016 presidential election and urged the NPP to emulate that.

Shirley Naana Ampem was speaking during the NDC’s “Ramadan Health Walk” held on Sunday, April 28, 2019.

The exercise was organized by the Zongo Caucus wing of the New Juaben South constituency in Koforidua.

From here let’s remember Ghana in prayers for Allah to continuously grant us peace so that when NDC wins the 2020 election they [NPP government] will accept defeat and hand over peacefully just like what former president Mahama did in 2016,” she said.

The NDC Women’s Organiser further criticised the manner in which the NPP government removed former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei.

She said the decision to appoint Jean Mensa suggests that the NPP wants to circumvent the electoral system against the will of the people.

Also speaking at the “Ramadan Healthwalk” was the Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of NDC, William Atamudzi.
