A Nigerian teenage girl identified as Dantsoho Zainab Abubakar from Taraba state has emerged as one of the best candidates to take the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exam in 2019.
The 17-year-old girl, who attended The Lagoon School in Lekki, Lagos state, passed her exam with flying colours.
She made all As in her subjects, including further mathematics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics.
In a recent interview, the teenager thanked God for her result. She expressed that she screamed and cried when she found out she had all As in her exam.
She said: "I feel great. Thank God. When I saw my result, I screamed and started crying. I didn’t think I was going to get that but I knew I worked towards it and prayed for that result. But it was very surprising. The school called me to announce the result. They said they were very proud of me. We were just two in the school who had A1 in all the subjects we sat for."
The young girl also talked about how she prepared for the exam. She noted that she read far and wide for her WAEC and prepared using different textbooks, extra notes with any information she could find.
"When we began the registration, I knew I had to do well. So, I read far and wide before sitting for each subject because I didn’t know what would come out. Moreover, they have been preparing us for WAEC for the past six years. I read extra textbooks, extra notes and whatever information I could find anywhere. Not every subject went smoothly. I doubted myself in some subjects but in the end I got As in all. My parents were really happy."
Abubakar, who revealed that her family has always been her motivation, noted that she wants to find a solution to cancer. She also talked about participating in basketball and running.
