2 students invent device to help the visually impaired

- Two IT students have invented a device to help the visually impaired

- The innovation assists in providing better details of surrounding obstacles

- They hope to get sponsorship in order to mass produce the device

Two information technology (IT) students from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) have invented a device that helps the visually impaired to see better. The pair have been working on the innovation since last year. The invention was inspired by seeing the plight of those who have a mass-produceweak vision.

Siphamandla Mqcina and Philanjalo Ndlovu worked together to create the C4Me - an invention enabling the visually impaired see better. It helps those who can't see well to move around and know where they are going.

They recently traveled to Canada to present their invention on a global stage, the SABC reports. The two youths are final year students and are studying computer industrial systems.

According to Mqcina, they saw a visually impaired person on campus and were moved to help them. They have used money out of their own pocket to fund the project. They hope to get sponsorship to assist in manufacturing the device.

In recent pasts, Nigerians have been in the news for making their country and Africa proud with their achievements and records they are making around the world.

YEN.com.gh gathers that the four institutions the Nigerian national made distinctions from include the University of Algarve Faro, Portugal; University of Santarem, Portugal; Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland; and University of Oviedo, Spain.

The Enugu state indigene studied Emergency and Critical Care Nursing in the aforementioned universities.
