A young ambitions student discovered her future was to study at Harvard University while in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Janelle Nia-Simone Baker from Dallas, Texas, US, shared her joy with social media fans while opening her email to confirm if she had made it.

The mother was leaning on her daughter's back as she anticipated the great news while encouraging her before the reveal.

On finding out that she had been accepted to join the prestigious institution, they both jumped for joy with the mother's expressions showing how proud she was.

"My baby is going to Harvard," the mom could be heard saying.

As if that was not enough, days earlier, Janelle had been accepted to join Standford University.

In a separate video with her school friends, they all sat together waiting for an email that would confirm the good news.

On finding out the results, Janelle and her friends made loud screams in celebration.

Janelle seems to be favourite for many in her Dallas community and with such impeccable results, it's easy to see why. If it weren't for the lockdown caused by the deadly disease, her friends would have been around to celebrate with her.

She, however, had to stay indoors and enjoy the moment with her mother, with a lockdown becoming the norm in several US states.

In other news, a beautiful Ghanaian couple has gotten married in a very simple wedding ceremony, observing the strict social distancing measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh on the official Instagram handle of Facts and Truths, the wedding was held outside the chapel to avoid going against president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's orders for all church services to be suspended.

It is thought that the simple wedding ceremony was held at a branch of the Church of Pentecost in Ghana as the pastor is identified as Rev Thomas Agbeke who is a district pastor in the church.
