COVID-19: Oyarifa landlady cancels 3-month rent to help tenants (Photo)

- A landlady, Joyce Tekper, has waived a 3-month salary to support her tenants in the fight against coronavirus

- She owns the 3T Plaza at Tieman, while she lives at Oyarifa, all near Adentan

- In a letter dated April 18, the landlady says those who owed rent have the flexibility to defer the payment until after the pandemic is over

Joyce Terkper, a landlady at Oyarifa near Adentan in the Greater Accra Region, has cancelled a three-month rent to her tenants.

In the letter dated April 18, 2020, and sighted by YEN.com.gh, the landlady says the gesture is to help reduce the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the tenants.

Madam Terkper noted by the letter than the result of the lockdown due to the coronavirus is untold, and that was a way she could cushion her tenants.

Part of the letter reads: “We are pleased to inform you that three-month rent payment has been waived to help reduce the hardship the COVID-19 pandemic has brought as a result of the lockdown”.

The letter also states that those whose rent has expired and wish to renew it have the flexibility to defer the payment till the coronavirus pandemic was over.

In addition, the tenants also have the option to pay between one month and six months for their next rent advance, the letter reads.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has also waived electricity and water bills for Ghanaians for the next three months – April, May, and June.

This is for the government to help mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the people.

In other news, actor John Dumelo and MP aspirant for the Ayawaso West-Wuogon Constituency, has donated massive provisions to help support the people during lockdown.
