Outdooring his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on Monday, July 27, 2020, in Accra, the former president outlined some initiatives he will undertake if given the mandate to govern Ghana again on December 7, 2020.
YEN.com.gh has a compilation of some of the promises made by John Mahama during the outdoor of his running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
1. 30% female appointees in next government
John Mahama said when it comes to promoting and pushing women into the limelight the National Democratic Congress’ records are unbeatable.
He further opined that the NDC recognises and appreciates the knowledge, industry, passion, creativity, and problem-solving skills of women.
2. One million jobs coming – Mahama
He has promised Ghanaians that his next administration will create one million jobs.
“Our plans include an aggressive job and entrepreneurial programme in the public and private sector that will deliver a minimum 250,000 jobs every year," he declared.
“A total of 1,000,000 jobs across the country by the end of my term in office in 2024."
3. Mahama to fight corruption with ‘Operation Sting’ in second coming
John Mahama has said he will use Operation Sting to fight corruption in Ghana should he win the December 7, 2020 elections.
Operation Sting is an anti-corruption crusade which, “under my watch, will involve massive, far-reaching and practical governmental reforms."
“It will be ruthless against all corrupt political appointees and public sector workers,” he noted.
4. I’ll pay out your locked-up funds from collapsed financial institutions
Mahama has promised to pay out all locked-up funds of the customers of Menzgold Company Limited and other financial institutions should he win the December 7, 2020, polls.
“My heart goes out to the many who have been affected by this Government’s unjustifiable collapse of Ghanaian-owned financial institutions."
He pledged “on behalf of the NDC that we shall pay within one year all who have funds locked up with the collapsed financial institutions. Within one year. I promise!”
5. We will implement a set of robust health policies and plans aimed at aggressively tackling and reducing maternal mortality by half from the current 319 per 100,000 live births.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei, is not happy about former president John Dramani Mahama’s candidature as flag-bearer for the opposition National Democratic Congress.
Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix on the Uncut Show, Prince stated that it is an insult to the nation for the NDC to choose Mahama to lead them in the forthcoming 2020 general elections
