Multiple award-winning Ghanaian broadcaster, Nana Aba Anamoah, has claimed that some health professionals are been taking bribes to alter the results of COVID-19 tests.
In a tweet sighted by YEN.com.gh on Twitter, the Acting General Manager of GH One, in areply to another tweet, claimed some health workers take 'bribe' to change the results of COVID-19 tests
This is in line with the rise in Ghana’s COVID-19 cases which appear to have shot up in the past few days.
Nana Aba Anamoah's post on Twitter read: “Sister, some of our people are charging 500 cedis to change a positive result to negative.”
She also went on to wonder why the Ghana Health Service and Ghana Medical Association were attributing the rise of COVID-19 cases to the Christmas celebration d ruling out the political rallies that took place prior to the December 7, 2020, general elections.
She added that claims by the government that the political activities cannot be blamed for the upsurge in cases have been considered laughable by a number of health professionals.
“During the campaigning season, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Medical Association, etc. pandered to the whims of politicians and remembered medicine & science only after elections,” Nana Aba Anamoah quipped.
Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his 22nd address on the virus, warned that laboratories that failed to supply real-time data on the tests they conducted would be dealt with.
In the same 22nd update, President Akufo Addo said he would have no option than to return Ghana to a lockdown should active COVID-19 cases keep rising.
“It is better safe than sorry,” the president said while adding that security officials will be deployed to prosecute all who do not wear face masks.
Akufo-Addo has further revealed that all drinking bars and pubs that defy COVID-19 protocols will be dealt with.
