COVID-19: 15 students in Tarkwa test positive for deadly virus

- Fifteen students from ten institutions in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem municipality in the Western Region have tested positive for COVID-19

- These cases were not recorded in the various institutions but rather in the respective homes of the infected pupils and students

- No death has so far been recorded as the patients were responding to treatment in their homes.

Luckily, these cases were not recorded in the various institutions but rather in their respective homes of the infected pupils and students.

The Municipal Health Director for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Mrs Caroline Effah Otoo, made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tarkwa.

She stated that no death has been recorded so far, adding that the patients were responding to treatment in their homes.

She advised parents to get the right nose mask for their wards and ensure they were worn properly to reduce the increased risk of spreading the virus.

Since the reopening of schools a lot of institutions have recorded confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease.

The Akosombo International School in the Eastern Region initially recorded 40 confirmed cases and recorded some more cases.

The Ghana Education Service assured parents that the cases are being managed well and that there should be no cause for alarm.

In other news, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA), Richard Dombo, has died.

Dombo, YEN.com.gh understands died from COVID-19 complications. He died on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

The son of the late Chief Simon Diedong Dombo, one of the founders of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed him to head GRDA in 2017.
