3 dead, 3 others in critical condition after car in 'racing competition' run them over

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that three people have lost their lives after cars engaging in racing competition run them over.
Three others are also in critical condition at the 37 military hospitals battling for survival after an overspeeding Toyota Camry Salon car with registration number GR- 1708 -21 hit them.
The incident occurred at the 37 Lorry Station area in Accra at about 8:30 PM on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The vehicle was heading towards the 37 roundabout at top speed in competition with a Mercedes Benz saloon car.
According to an eyewitness report, upon reaching the 37 lorry station, the speed at which they were coming could not be reduced, thus, the driver of the Toyota Camry lost control of the steering and crashed into the nearside pavement close to the station’s entrance.
In the process, an adult male who sells yoghurt and an elderly woman were killed on the spot and spun further on the pavement to knock down four male adult pedestrians walking on the pavement
The Mercedes Benz driver, however, sped off after the incident involving the Toyota Camry.
The Toyota Camry has, however, been impounded, and the driver, Richmond Tsame, has been detained by police.
On the same day, a commercial vehicle popularly known as ‘trotro’ somersaulted after chasing and knocking down two robbers who were escaping on a motorbike.
The accident occurred at Antieku, a suburb of Sowutuom.
The police upon arrival at the scene found the two robbers in a gutter nearby with an Urvan bus involved in an accident at the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the two robbery suspects as at about 5 am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, robbed a fruit seller and jumped on their motorbike to escape.
Several passengers on board the trotro sustained various degrees of injuries with four of them severely injured and currently receiving treatment at the Akawe Government Hospital.
