Professor Boateng was awarded GHC1million in damages against the maverick broadcaster, according to a report sighted on My News Ghana by YEN.com.gh.

Professor Boateng earlier this year took legal action against Captain Smart and a Colorado-based Ghanaian engineering student for defamation at the Accra High Court.

The defamatory statements were reportedly published on a WhatsApp platform dubbed “Kill Corruption Now”.

Captain Smart is the administrator, the My News GH article reported.

In his reliefs, Professor Boateng told the court that comments published in the group “gravely damaged” his reputation, noting that one of the statements labeled him as “greedy”.

Some of the statements also accused him of engaging in illegal mining between March 2018 and February 2019.

Meanwhile, in an earlier YEN.com.gh report, Captain Smart called on Ghanaians to make sure that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the last old man to be president.

President Akufo-Addo celebrated his 77th birthday on March 29, 2021.

He defeated a 62-year-old presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President, John Dramani Mahama, in the 2020 general elections to secure a second term.

Akufo-Addo collected 51.302% of the votes cast against Mahama’s 47.359%. The votes difference between the two candidates stood at 517, 231, representing a four-percentage point, one of the highest since 1996.

“Ghana’s youth must understand and I’ve said it that after Nana Addo, the youth will not vote for any other old man again,” he stated on the KSM show as reported by Ghanaweb.

The radio presenter further likened the current state of the country to a case of Ghanaians "becoming fools in our wisdomic house."

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, YEN.com.gh reported that Smart, the host of the Angel FM's morning show, Anopa Bofour, had been taken off the airwaves.

It was later confirmed by Kwadwo Dickson, the station's General Manager. It is said that Captain Smart made some not-so-nice comments about people in government. Some people think that his suspension is a form of power play to gag the media.
