Controversial political commentator Kevin Ekow Taylor has reacted to the results from the by-election in Akwatia on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

After hours of voting, the candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo, secured a victory over the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Solomon Kwame Asumadu, following the late evening count of the ballots.
Bediako Baidoo secured his win with 18,199 votes, while his closest challenger, Asumadu, received 15,235 votes from the total 119 polling stations.
The Liberal Party of Ghana's (LPG) candidate, Patrick Owusu, received only 82 of the overall votes.
The by-election in Akwatia was held following the untimely demise of the former Member of Parliament for the constituency, Ernest Yaw Kumi, who sadly passed away a few months ago.
Kevin Taylor warns new Akwatia MP
Following the declaration of the Akwatia by-election results by the Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC), Kevin Taylor has issued a stern warning to the new Member of Parliament (MP).
The NDC activist cautioned the newly elected MP, Bediako Baidoo, against abandoning the road construction project he and his party had initiated before the elections.

He noted that he would send correspondents to the Akwatia constituency to inspect the progress of the project for the next three weeks.
Kevin Taylor stated that the youth in the constituency would only believe in the National Democratic Congress and Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo if they fulfilled their campaign promises and completed the road construction project.

He said:
"In the next two or three weeks, my team and I will send correspondents to Akwatia. Complete the road project you have started. That is the only thing that will make the young people in Akwatia believe in the word of the NDC and you as an MP."
The political commentator vowed to make the newly elected MP lose the seat if he reneged on his campaign promise to the people in his constituency.
Kevin Taylor cautioned Bediako Baidoo against halting the project and moving the machinery for the project to any community days after his election victory.
"If you fail to complete the road project you have started in Akwatia, I will put myself on the line and make sure you lose in the next elections."
The NDC activist advised the new MP to collaborate with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to continue with the project and improve the lives of residents in the Akwatia constituency.

NDC officials praise Omane Boamah after by-election
In another story reported by YEN.com.gh, some NDC officials had praised the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah after the party took a commanding lead in the Akwatia by-elections on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Yayra Koku and Rashid Tanko-Computer dedicated the victory to the deceased, whom they claimed provided a winning strategy during his time as the Director of Elections in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NDC officials' remarks about the party's preparations for the recent by-elections came weeks after Dr Omane Boamah and seven other people died in a tragic helicopter crash in a forested area near Obuasi.
