Monday Weather: GMet Lists Areas to Experience Rain and Thunderstorms Across Ghana Today, August 24

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has released its weather forecast for Monday, August 24, 2026, warning residents across several parts of the country to prepare for a mixed day of fog, drizzle, and potential thunderstorms.

According to GMet, the early hours of the day will bring mist and fog patches to coastal, forest and mountainous zones, accompanied by largely cloudy skies.

Residents in parts of southern Ghana should also brace for slight rain or drizzle from the morning through to the afternoon.

Sunshine followed by storms

As the day advances, sunny spells broken by occasional cloud cover are expected to spread across much of the country.

However, GMet cautioned that the relatively calm start will give way to more unsettled conditions later in the day.

Thunderstorms and rain are forecast to move through the middle, transition and northern sectors during the afternoon and evening hours, which could affect travel and outdoor activities in those areas.

GMet also noted that relatively cool temperatures will be felt during the night and in the early hours of the morning across the entire country.

Residents are advised to dress appropriately and take precautions, particularly in areas prone to localised flooding during heavy downpours.

Minority demands answers over GH¢350m flood money

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that the Minority in Parliament had called for the resignation or dismissal of the Attorney General over the release of GH¢350 million from the Contingency Fund.

Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei said the withdrawal had violated legal procedures because garnishee proceedings against the fund were still ongoing.
