The New Patriotic Party's chairman for the Bono Region, Abronye, was allegedly arrested today, September 8, 2025.

The police have yet to release an official statement after nearly six hours since news of his arrest went viral.

A video of him being rushed into a police vehicle is making the rounds on social media as Ghanaians try to ascertain the reason for Abronye's arrest.

Before his arrest, the police allegedly raided the home of Abronye's colleague, Moses Abor, who believes the arrest is politically motivated.

One of his colleagues, Moses Abor has described his arrest as politically motivated.

Randy Abbey sues Abronye DC for GH¢20m

Meanwhile, Abronye DC has been targeted by several Ghanaians who believe the arrested politician has defamed them. One of such people is Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), Dr Randy Abbey,

YEN.com.gh reported that Randy Abbey sued Abronye on August 26, 2025, demanding GH¢20 million in damages for allegedly false and defamatory statements.

The Cocobod CEO stated in the writ of summons that the Bono Regional Chairman had made baseless accusations against him with the sole purpose of tarnishing his reputation.
