TV3 Ghana shared a video of the gathering on 6 August 2026, showing community members pouring libation at the crash site of the Z-9 helicopter.

The ceremony was held to seek spiritual forgiveness and protection, with residents expressing a collective wish that such a tragedy would never visit the community again.

"May this never happen again," residents said during the solemn rite, reflecting both grief and a determination to guard against future loss.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that President John Mahama, in an emotional moment, met with the families of eight officials who perished in a devastating helicopter crash exactly one year ago.

The government marked the first anniversary of the August 6, 2025 tragedy with an inter-faith memorial service, bringing together relatives of the deceased to honour the lives cut short while the officials were carrying out their public duties.

The crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
