One Year on: Sad Scenes As Mahama Meets Family Members of 8 Helicopter Crash Victims

Grief returned to the surface for many Ghanaians as President John Mahama sat with the families of eight officials who perished in a devastating helicopter crash exactly one year ago.

The government marked the first anniversary of the August 6, 2025 tragedy with an inter-faith memorial service, bringing together relatives of the deceased to honour the lives cut short while the officials were carrying out their public duties.

Eight officials who died in the crash

The crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Also among the dead were Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Samuel Sarpong, and former NDC parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye.

Three members of the Ghana Armed Forces who formed part of the helicopter crew also lost their lives: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Plane crash kills two in Tema

This comes after GH One TV reported that the aircraft crashed near Oninku Park, Tema Community 1, claiming the lives of two individuals.
