Ghana held to disappointing draw by Chad
The forward latched onto a clever pass from Mohammed Kudus and buried the ball into the net, handing Ghana the advantage.

His effort carried extra significance as it was the first goal scored at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Deby Itno in six years, following its renovation.
But what started as an afternoon of promise soon turned sour for the visitors. Ghana failed to build on their lead, allowing the home side to grow in confidence.
With just a minute left in regulation time, Chad found their equaliser. Celestine Ecua’s attempt took a wicked deflection, wrong-footing the goalkeeper and sparking wild celebrations among the locals, as noted by CAF Online.

Ghana in control of Group I despite draw
Despite the setback, Ghana still sits on 16 points. Their cushion at the top of the group, however, hangs in the balance.
A win for Comoros against Mali could reduce the gap to a single point, while a victory for Mali would keep Ghana’s four-point advantage intact if Madagascar fails to beat the Central African Republic.

The Black Stars, though, remain in control of their fate. With two of their last three fixtures set to be played at home, starting with a crunch clash against Mali on Monday, September 8, their qualification hopes are far from over, per Africa Soccer.
