Sammy Gyamfi apologises to Akufo - Addo

The Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has apologised over his comments that there was no parliamentary notification with regards to a recent trip the president embarked on to South Africa.

President Akufo-Addo travelled to South Africa on Saturday, 1 December 2018 on the invitation of South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, to partake in the 2018 Global Citizens Festival as part of the 100th Anniversary of Nelson Mandela.

“Admittedly, I got the point about the lack of Parliamentary notification for the President's SA trip wrong. I hereby retract and apologise for same”

Gyamfi however stated that, that aside, it was an abuse of the public purse for the president to travel to SA with his family at the expense of Ghanaians.

“I maintain that it was insensitive and inappropriate for the president to have attended that concert at a time that Ghanaians are reeling under excruciating and torrid economic hardships,” he reacted.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported how Gyamfi was exposed for telling lies about the president not seeking permission before traveling.

He added that the president was spotted enjoying himself at the Global Citizen Concert Gateway held at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Gyamfi went on to say that some ladies seen in a video of the president dancing were actually his daughters and relatives.

He further argued that the president flouted constitutional provisions and therefore exhibited the highest forms of insensitivity and irresponsibility.
