Menzgold clients hire former GFA lawyer Clinton to retrieve monies

Some frustrated customers of Menzgold Ghana Limited have hired the services of former Ghana Football Association (GFA) lawyer, Amanda Clinton, as they resort to court in a bid to retrieve their investments.

Menzgold has been in the news in recent months following disagreements with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) regarding its operations.

There has also been an order from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to have the company shut down its gold trading activities.

Currently, the company has halted its collectibles and all other new businesses related to its gold vault market, albeit temporarily.

Some weeks ago, some angry customers of Menzgold took to the streets to demonstrate against the gold dealership firm.

Hundreds of the protestants marched through the principal street of Accra starting from the Obra Spot and ending at the Accra Hearts of Oak Park.

This came after months of failure on the side of Menzgold to refund their investments to them, despite several assurances.

The aggrieved customers have now decided to head to court and have secured the service of lawyer Amanda Clinton.

The International-Ghanaian lawyer was one of the lead counsels for the GFA during its legal battle with the government on the dissolution of the Association.

According to a report by Ghanaweb.com, lawyer Clinton is now representing multiple international clients who want their monies back from embattled Menzgold.

The clients who are mostly based in Belgium, the U.S and the U.K, have requested that the experienced lawyer assists them recover payments for accrued interest and their principal investments.

One of the customers leading this charge has been identified as Roger Knauf. Who has reportedly invested more than GHC 1,200,000 with Menzgold.

Meanwhile, the government has stated categorically that it will not take up the burden to refunding monies to customers who have their investments locked up.
