Alleged mastermind behind GWCL manager’s death grabbed by the police

- Zachariah Biimi Naandam, the prime suspect in the murder of a GWCL manager, Joseph Migal Jinjel, has been arrested by the police

- Naandam is currently assisting police officials with their investigation of the murder

- Jinjel was shot dead after the vehicle he was driving was stopped by unknown people

Information available to YEN.com.gh shows that the brain behind the killing of Joseph Migal Jinjel, the Deputy Distribution Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in charge of Accra East Region, has been arrested.

Mynewsgh.com reports that the suspect, Zachariah Biimi Naandam, was earlier picked up along with two others, Kantam and Bukari.

Kantam and Bukari were however released on bail, after preliminary investigations showed that they played no roles in the murder.

According to police sources, Naandam instigated the murder on New Year’s Eve and his pick-up vehicle was allegedly used for the operation by the assailants.

Naandam, who is a development worker with a non-governmental organization (NGO), has since been remanded into prison by a Tamale court.

This is move is to give the police officers ample time to wrap up with their investigations and forward the docket to the Attorney-General’s department for advice.

YEN.com.gh understands that Jinjel was a regular visitor to his hometown, Bunkpurugu, and played an important role in mobilizing the youth of the town.

He was attacked by armed men at Langbinsi or its suburbs, in the company of his wife and others, as he drove a vehicle.

Jinjel was stopped by unknown men who pulled him out of the car and shot him, after they had blocked the road with pieces of wood.

His family members opined that his murder was either in relation to the fact that he was nursing an ambition to become the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bunkpurugu constituency or a long-standing family feud.
