Family of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) member who died during the shooting incident at the party’s Ashanti regional office have reportedly defected from the party.
Abdul Wasihu Iddrisu died on February 18, 2019 after he was caught up in a violent scuffle at the NDC’s regional secretariat in Kumasi.
According to a report by Daily Guide, the family members of the deceased have decided to quit the NDC.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, one of the family members said the party has neglected them after the incident.
“The sad aspect of the issue is that the NDC and their leadership have turned their back on us after we have lost Wasihu, who was young with a bright future,” a family member identified as Mother said. “We have learnt vital lessons from how the NDC neglected us after the death of Wasihu and so we have decided to leave the party for good.”
According to her, the NDC’s reaction following the demise of their relative proves it is not a party worth dying for. “The NDC is not a party to die for and so we have decided to leave the party and nothing would influence us to rescind our decision.
