Mövenpick terminates contract of staff who stole gold from guest’s room

Following a protest by some Ghanaian workers about unfair treatment, the contract of the expatriate staff of plush Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, who allegedly stole eight bars of gold from the room of the hotel's guest has been terminated.

Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel has sacked the expatriate staff who stole gold bars from the hotel room of a guest.

Ghanaian staff protested what they said was racial bias by the management of the hotel.

They disclosed management wanted to ignore the issue of theft when some of their Ghanaian colleagues had been fired for petty crimes such as stealing pens whilst expatriate staff went unpunished when they stole from guests.

The protest widely reported by the media which compelled the hotel management to set up a disciplinary committee.

The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union that represented the Staff at the committee directed management to ensure that the issues are resolved.
