Kwame Asare Obeng, commonly known by his stage name, A Plus is a Ghanaian-born singer, hiplife rapper, and political activist. He is also the founder and the leader of The People's Project (TPP). Biography

Kwame A Plus was born on 6th March 1977 in Salpond Ghana as Kwame Asare Obeng. He is the son of Daniel Kwasi Obeng (father) and Elizabeth Obeng (mother). His father is a proprietor of Gomoaman Preparatory School while his mother is a trader.

A Plus is the second born in the family of eight children. He began his studies in Gomoaman Preparatory School. He later joined three different schools for his high school education. The schools are Nkwatia Secondary School, Swedru Secondary School and Breman Asikuma Secondary School.

After his high school education, he joined the music business for a while before going back to school. As of 2020, he is studying at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) undertaking a course in Public Administration.

Music and political career

A Plus gained interest in music while still in high school. In 1998, he recorded his first demo at Slim Buster studio, and numerous other demos followed this in different studios. In 1999, he became one of the first two artists to be signed by Hush Hush Records.

He released his first single titled Freedom of Speech in 2000 after the general elections. The song gained popularity. Ever since he has continued to release more songs which primarily speak on politics and other life issues. Some of A Plus new songs include:

Charity works

Even with the pressure and controversy from his music, Kwame never loses touch with the less privileged. Part of his time and resources are spent taking care of women, children and the disabled. In 2008, he set up a foundation to formalize his charitable works.

In 2008, he formed The People's Project (TPP). The main aim of the organization is to blend in his charitable vision with political advocacy. Through the foundation, he extends a helping hand to solve the issues taking place in the Ghanaian government and affecting the citizens.

Wife and kids

A Plus is married to Ghanaian beauty stylist and fashion blogger, Violet N.A Bannerman. His wife rose to fame after Ghanaian actress Nana Ama Agyemang McBrown contacted her to design her clothes. Vee designed different celebrity looks for Nana, and this attracted more clients.

She has designed for Ghanaian celebrities such as Irene Logan, Claudia Lumour and Nana Aba Anamoah. How many children does A Plus have? The Ghanaian musician has three lovely kids.

Akosua Vee and A Plus exchanged their wedding vows on 23rd September 2017 in a white wedding ceremony. The wedding reception took place at His Majesty's Court, an iconic hotel in Accra. The lovebirds had initially undertaken a traditional pre-wedding in Dansoman on 25th February 2017.
