Brave 'mad' man chases full-armored policeman; top police boss reacts

- In the video, a suspected mentally-unstable man is seen demanding monies lodged in a bank and threatened to kill anyone who dares to stop him

- Police officers at the scene apprehended him after gun shots were fired following a fierce scuffle

Director-General of Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu, has reacted to a video of an alleged mentally ill man who was shot at several times after attacking a police officer.

In the video circulating on social media, a scruffy-looking man is seen approaching a bank with an unidentified object in arms while announcing his presence.

The video also shows the mentally ill man being asked by security personnel at post to surrender but he proceeded.

Seconds into the video, the man is captured being restrained by some civilians while the policeman fired shots at him.

According to ghanaweb.com, ACP Eklu, indicated that the alleged mentally-unstable man and one of the police officers were receiving treatment after being injured in the altercation.

He disclosed that he had spoken to the Kasoa Divisional Commander, who affirmed the incident happened at Kasoa, Central region.

ACP Eklu also confirmed the ''police officer and the man, suspected to be mentally ill were injured and are receiving treatment.''
