The BBC Africa Eye documentary on Sex for Grades at the University of Ghana has ignited the conversation on sexual harassment on the various campuses across the country.
On Monday, October 7, 2019, BBC aired a documentary it conducted in two top universities in West Africa - University of Lagos and University of Ghana.
The exposé indicted four lecturers - two from the Lagos University and two from the University of Ghana.

The lecturers exposed by the documentary from the University of Ghana are Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butako of the Political Science Department and Department of Teacher Education respectively.
The two men have been interdicted by the university to allow for investigations into the alleged sex for grades scandal.
The University of Ghana in a statement noted that lecturers will be invited by the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee .

The premier university of Ghana says it is committed to creating and maintaining a community in which all persons who participate in the University's programmes and activities do so in an environment free from intimidation, exploitation and abuse.
To achieve this objective, the university has adopted a policy on sexual harassment and misconduct which guides the University of Ghana community.
The policy defines prohibited conduct, outlines the procedures for reporting violations, conduct of investigations, sanctions, non-retaliatory mechanisms and establishes the Anti-sexual harassment committee.

According to UG, sexual relationships that occur in the student-teacher context or in the context of employment, supervision or evaluation present special problems.
Sexual harassment is defined by UG as an unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature including unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favours and other verbal, non-verbal, written, electronic, graphic or physical conduct or behaviour of a sexual nature.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that depositors and customers of the 23 savings and loans companies and finance houses whose licenses were revoked by the central bank in August 2019 have been given an extension of deadline to file for their claims.
According to the receiver, Eric Nana Nipah, the lifeline became necessary because he realized some depositors of these collapsed institutions have not and are yet to submit their proof of debt forms.
