Akufo-Addo's 5 best performing ministers in the year 2019
2019 has been a very busy year for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), with the government cutting sod for numerous projects.

While President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have been the busiest, not less can be said for the various ministers.
From commissioning of projects to ensuring the smooth running of their sectors, some these ministers deserve commendations for their efforts.
The overall performance of the government has been a mixed big, but there are some ministers who stilled managed to distinguish themselves:
We are, therefore, chronicling the five best performing Ghanaian Ministers in 2019:
1. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh – Education minister
In June 2019, education minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, was rated as the best performing Ghanaian minister.
This was according to a survey carried out by the Political Science department of the University of Ghana.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, has been very busy this year, having clashed with some alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology over the conversion of some male halls into mixed halls.
He also faced severe criticism when guardians endured hardships at the Independence Square in Accra while seeking school placement for their wards.
However, Napo overcame it all and stands as one of the best ministers for 2019.
2. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto – Food and Agriculture minister
Dr. Owusu Afriyie is one of the very few ministers who have not been reshuffled since the Akufo-Addo government assumed office.
This may not totally be as a result of his competence, but being kept as Minister for Food and Agriculture for three years shows he’s doing something right.

Since launching the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, many farmers in the country have benefitted, while production of food crops has also been given a boost.
Months ago, Dr. Akoto boldly declared that Ghana would soon be self-efficient and ban the importation of rice and chicken. This certainly outlines the work done by the Agric minister.
3. John Peter Amewu – Energy minister
John Peter Amewu was appointed to act as Energy minister in May 2018 and he has since risen to become the substantive minister.
Amewu has not had it all rosy, especially when the scandalous Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal hit the nation.
However, in terms of solving the power situation, no one can deny the fact that Ghana has had some form of respite.
The debate over who solved dumsor will continue to rumble on, but all that Ghanaians care about is to have uninterrupted power supply.
For the better part of 2019, though, Mr. Amewu and his ministry ensured that Ghanaians enjoyed just that.

4. Alan Kyerematen – Trade and Industry minister
Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen is another who has been on top of his game in the year 2019.
The One-District One-Factory initiative was given a huge boost i 2019, with the Ekumfi Fruits Factory being the most talked about.
In terms of international trade agreements, too, Ghana had breakthroughs with a number of countries, having also been selected to host the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
5. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu – Health minister
In April 2019, Health minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, famously declared that he should be called ‘Drones Minister’.
This was after government successfully launched the drone project to deliver emergency health care products to health centres in deprived communities.

This remains one of the biggest policies introduced in Ghana’s health sector and has drones have already starting working in some parts of the country.
Agyemang-Manu, in 2019, also cut sod for expansion works to begin on the Kyebi Government Hospital, as well as the rehabilitation of the Kwahu Government Hospital.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that President Nana Akufo-Addo says only the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can transform Ghana.
According to the president, his party has the sole responsibility of transforming the country to a prosperous one.
