Kofi Amoabeng arrested; Beige Bank CEO Nyinaku remanded

-Founder of the defunct UT Bank and Chairman of UT Group of Companies, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, has been arrested.

- Amoabeng's arrest was in connection to the collapse of his UT Bank which happened on August 7, 2017

-According to sources, Amoabeng was picked up at his office in Accra this morning and sent to Circuit Court Four.

Prince Kofi Amoabeng, founder of the defunct UT Bank and Chairman of UT Group of Companies has been picked up by the police in connection to the collapse of his bank.

He and some other CEOs are being prosecuted by the state in connection with the collapse of some nine local banks.

Also, Michael Nyinaku the founder and former CEO of The Beige Bank, Mr Michael Nyinaku, has been remanded in police custody by the court for one week.

His bail application was thrown out by the court.

Already, the former CEO and founder of Capital Bank, William Ato Essien, is being prosecuted for 26 charges; including stealing of various sums in excess of GHS 260 million.

William Ato Essien, the founder and former CEO of another defunct bank, Capital Bank, as well as his former MD, Rev. Fitzgerald Odonkor, and two other persons; Dr Tettey Nettey, the Managing Director of MC Management Services, a company said to be owned by Mr Essien, and Kate Quartey-Papafio, a businesswoman and Managing Director of Reroy Cables Company Limited, are all facing the law over the collapse of the Capital Bank.

The charges include conspiracy to steal. Mr Essien and Tettey Nettey allegedly acted together with the above-stated individuals between October and November 2015 in Accra to steal GHS100 million belonging to the Bank.

Judgement is expected to be delivered by the High Court in respect of the Capital Bank case in February 2020.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that The National Women’s Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hanna Bissiw, has chastised National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah over his leaked amorous video conversation with a lady.

Dr Hanna Bissiw stated that the'irresponsible act' on the part of the National security minister, makes him a threat to national security.
