One of the freshly distributed brand new ambulances has reportedly broken down on its first trip to the constituency it was meant for.

It would be recalled that President Akufo-Addo today, Tuesday, January 28, 2020, commissioned ambulances procured by the government for distribution to all constituencies in fulfilment of his one-constituency one-ambulance campaign promise.

The event, which critics including members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) describe as a “needles fanfare”, will take place at the forecourt of State House in Accra at 11:00 am.

Announcing the commissioning at the Sunday Meet-the Press encounter, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah charged the National Ambulance Service to properly maintain the ambulances.

Some reports have it that the particular ambulance that had broken down was meant for Walewale in the Northern Region of Ghana and did not even get the chance to reach there.

It has also been indicated that the breakdown was due to overheating, although that has not yet been fully confirmed as the true cause.
