Ghanaians have once again taken Twitter by storm with a viral hashtag called #WaakyeLivesMatter after a photo of the popular Ghanaian dish packaged in jars hit social media.

Normally, waakye, which is a combination of rice and beans cooked together, is packaged in rubber or leaves for customers.

However, with the advent of COVID-19, there have been different innovations to package and transport food which made a food joint decide to package their waakye in bottles.

YEN.com.gh has gathered some of the most hilarious and interesting reactions to the trend.

Asantehene opined that apart from tree leaves, there is no other suitable package for the Ghanaian dish:

According to Ekow Hatman, the waakye is being suffocated, cannot breathe and needs to be let out

Photos, videos and screenshots of the game have been sighted by YEN.com.gh on different social media platforms as many Ghanaians have been excited to see the innovation.
