MTN Sunday Special: how to activate for unlimited calls and data

MTN Super Sunday allows you to call or text other MTN users for free. The offer is only available to MTN prepaid customers, which means that fixed and post-paid lines cannot benefit from this deal. Once you have subscribed, you will be able to make any phone call and send any number of texts for only a small amount of money. However, there is a process that you should follow to get this sweet deal.

To activate the MTN Sunday Special, you need to know which method to use. There is the SMS method and the shortcode method. Both methods are straightforward so it's only a matter of preference.

The rates are affordable compared to what you would spend to make the same calls for the whole day. The offer ends at 11.59 pm on Sunday so you should subscribe as early as possible so that you enjoy the deal.

Shortcode method

For the shortcode method, you will use the MTN Sunday Special code that is provided. After that, you will select the offer you want. The first option is free MTN calls, SMS, and 20MBs data for 1.09 GHS. The second option is free MTN calls and SMSs only for 54 Pesewas. After that, you should accept the offer that you selected. For this method, you only have to open the messaging app and send a message to 5050. Follow these steps:

  1. Open messaging app
  2. Type ‘START’
  3. Send the message to 5050
  4. Select the offer you want and reply with either 1 or 2

How to deactivate Sunday Special MTN

The special MTN offer automatically renews itself every Sunday as long as you have some airtime in your account. This could be convenient if you plan to use it every Sunday.

However, it could also be disadvantageous if you do not. Therefore, if you don’t want it to renew automatically, you should know how to deactivate it.

The process is simple. Do the following:

  1. Open the text messaging app.
  2. Enter STOP
  3. Send it to 5050
  4. Reply 1 to confirm the deactivation.

After you subscribe to MTN Sunday Special, the amount is deducted automatically from your airtime. If you subscribe before Sunday, you will not be able to use the free calls on any other day of the week until Sunday arrives. Yen.com.gh reports that MTN Ghana has invested $2.5 million to help combat fraud in Ghana. The company has teamed up with the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to deal with this issue. They hope to catch company employees who try to outwit their clients.

The head of mobile financial services revealed that the company has secured a tracing system. This will let them trace the seller whose client has reported fraud. They also reported that over 40 people have been arrested so far. Money has been recovered in some cases.
