- The MP for Sagnarigu has said that they will lay down their lives to protect Ghana’s eroding democratic credentials

- The remark followed the physical assault meted the NDC MPs in their attempt to petition the chair of the EC

- Meanwhile, the party also refuses to accept the outcome of the 2020 polls

The National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) Members of Parliament (MPs) are ready to defend and protect the sanctity of Ghana’s democracy with their lives, A.B.A Fuseini has said.

“If we [NDC] have to die to defend this democracy we will do it. We would not allow anyone to suppress us,” the Sagnarigu MP said in an interview with Joy News.

His comments come on the back of the clash between the NDC MPs and personnel of the Ghana Police Service at the premises of the Electoral Commission in Accra.

According to Fuseini, the opposition legislators would double down on the resolve to fight any form of electoral injustice against the NDC.

The NDC MPs led by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, brawled with the police after they were barred from petitioning the chairperson of the EC, over the Techiman South Parliamentary seat which was declared in favour of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The MPs were reportedly physically manhandled during the melee.
