Television host and actress, Efia Odo has denied allegations that conveners of #FixTheCountry have been paid by John Mahama, the former President of Ghana.
On Tuesday, May 8, 2021, Odo and other supporters of the campaign notified the Ghana Police Service of their intention to embark on a demonstration against the government on Sunday, May 9, 2021. It has been denied for COVID-19 restriction reasons.
Since then some people have made assumptions that the actions of the conveners is because they because been paid by Mahama
“Which money have we gone to collect? All that is agenda? It’s fake. It’s false. We debunked all that, said Odo in a new interview with Zionfelix.
[Sheldon] is a part of those who want to defame us. Where’s Mahama’s signature on that paper. There was no signature.”
In other news, Bridget Otoo, a former TV3 Presenter, says Captain Smart's suspension by Angel FM would not have happened if her former boss, Osei Boakye was in charge.
On Thursday, May 6, 2021, YEN.com.gh reported that the host of the station's morning show, Anopa Bofour, had been taken off the airwaves. It was later confirmed by Kwadwo Dickson, the station's General Manager. It is believed that Captain Smart made some not-so-nice comments about people in government. Some people believe his suspension is a form of power play to gag the media, and Bridget Otoo has expressed her view on the matter.
"This is why Osei Boakye - former editor of TV3 was different, a politician would dare not tell him to take a presenter off or replace with a presenter they like," commented Bridget Otoo. "But these new media managers, some square pegged would jump cos they don’t even know the job!"
