The news broke on Friday, September 26, 2025, when a proud post from @bhadext on X showcased Dr Newton proudly displaying a sign reading "DR (MED) JIMMY NEWTON." He was dressed in a white coat with a stethoscope around his neck.

The image captured his beaming smile and professional demeanor, a stark contrast to his youthful appearance seen in a second photo from the 2019 NSMQ victory.

The second image showed him in the green uniform of AUGUSCO, focused during the competition that saw the Cape Coast-based school triumph over their formidable rivals.

Dr Newton’s path from NSMQ champion to medical doctor exemplifies the power of a strong educational foundation.

The NSMQ, a prestigious annual science and mathematics quiz in Ghana, is renowned for fostering critical thinking and academic rivalry among senior high schools.

His team’s victory in 2019 laid the groundwork for his subsequent success in medical school, reportedly at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a leading institution known for producing top-tier healthcare professionals.
