New entry in Ghana’s parliament, Mercy Ama Sey says she should not be judged by her English speaking prowess or ability.

The Member of Parliament for Akwatia in the Eastern region opined that speaking good English cannot equate performance thus should not be the yardstick for people to judge her.

The NPP MP who beat NDC’s Baba Jamal to represent the people of Akwatia in parliament has been subjected to public ridicule because she can't express her self in the English language properly.

In an interview on Adom News, Madam Ama Sey said she is not bothered about the public ridicule since English is not her mother tongue.

I wonder why people are ridiculing me on social media. If you are fluent in the queens language correct me don’t laugh at me” she bemoaned.

The hairdresser however has vowed to improve herself the next few weeks, “I will speak fluent English to shame critics”.
