Fake Kasoa soldiers arrested by police

- The two were arrested for harassing some residents

The Kasoa District Police Command in the Central Region have arrested two men who posed as military men and terrorize some residents of Gomoa Obom.

The two young men, Abu Barkah Abdulah 34 and Ali Abdul Ganihu 37 clad in military uniforms, were arrested on Tuesday after assaulting their victims over a land dispute.

The fake soldiers also threatened and demolishing some building structures in the area.

Speaking to the media over the matter, Superintendent Stephen Ahiatafu, the Kasoa District Police Commander said the suspects committed the said offense in support of yet to be identified group who are in a dispute with the youth of the area.

Some angry youth of the area mustered courage and clashed with the men in uniform after the forcefully ejected some residents from the land.

Supt Stephen Ahiatafu added that, luck eluded the soldiers after police men sent to the scene suspected them to be fake and therefore arrested them.

Further investigations by the Ghana Military Police Headquarters, Burma Camp, turned out that the two arrested were labourers at Burma camp.

The police commander said some items believed to have been used by the fake soldiers for attacking residents were retrieved and the two are currently under police custody pending further investigation.
