Story of the Titanic submersible

On Sunday, June 18, a total of five people who had paid more than KSh 35 million boarded a submersible belonging to a Washington-based company identified as OceanGate Expeditions.

The quintet were excited to embark on a 13,000ft journey below the surface of the North Atlantic Ocean to explore the wreckage of the Titanic ship which sank in 1912.

However, an hour and 45 minutes into their journey, the Titan submersible lost contact with its mothership, and it only had 96 hours of oxygen to sustain the passengers.

The 96 hours elapsed today, which further slimmed the chances of finding those onboard alive.
