Kwaku Bonsam Spotted Campaigning for NDC in Akwatia By-Election: “Ɛyɛ Zu”

  • The by-election at the Akwatia constituency will come off on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, following the demise of the incumbent MP
  • Both the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress are campaigning intensely to win the seat
  • Famous Ghanaian spiritual leader, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, was also in Akwatia to campaign for the NDC

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, a popular Ghanaian spiritual leader, was seen campaigning for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akwatia Constituency ahead of the by-election in the area.

The Akwatia by-election is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi, died on July 7, 2025.

In a video on X, Kwaku Bonsam described the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government as a scam and entreated the constituents to vote against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate.

He added that Akwatia deserves access to infrastructure in good condition and asked them to vote for Bernard Baidoo, the NDC candidate, so they can see better developments.

“I have come to Akwatia. I describe the NPP government that left power after the 2024 election as a scam. The roads to Akwatia and its environs are very bad. Even the road to my village is better than the ones in Akwatia.”

He proceeded to shout the NDC’s slogan and asked the DJ to play music. The DJ played one of the theme songs for the NDC during the 2024 election.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam wore a brown shirt with black trousers and a red hat. He tied an NDC flag around his arm.

There were other NDC sympathisers around who cheered him and danced when the DJ started playing the song.

Poll tips NDC to win Akwatia by-election

YEN.com.gh reported that a survey conducted by Sanity Africa predicted that NDC's Bernard Bediako will win the Akwatia by-election.
