The restaurant, owned by Ghanaian hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone and his wife, suffered extensive damage after a fire swept through its premises at the Accra Tourist Information Centre in 2025.
Ghanaian content creator Kobe Boujee shared the approximately three-minute footage while explaining the events leading to the outbreak.
He said as the CCTV recording played:
“This is a very rare, secret footage of the Rockz Waakye fire.”
Worker begins frying plantain
The footage showed a female worker resting inside what appeared to be the restaurant’s kitchen late at night.
Another person later entered the area and reportedly informed her that more fried ripe plantain was needed.
Kobe Boujee narrated as the woman got up and moved towards the cooking area.
She placed pieces of plantain into a frying pan containing oil. However, instead of remaining near the stove to monitor the food, she appeared to return to her resting position.
The worker subsequently fell asleep while the frying continued unattended.
Kobe Boujee reacted to the woman’s actions while explaining that she had earlier checked whether the food was “properly cooked” before returning to sleep.
Fire spreads inside kitchen
After some time, the oil in the pan appeared to overheat. Flames suddenly emerged from the stove area before thick smoke spread through the kitchen.
The woman eventually woke up, noticed the fire and rushed outside to seek assistance.
Several young men later entered the kitchen carrying fire extinguishers and attempted to control the flames. Their efforts, however, were unsuccessful as the fire continued to grow.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were subsequently called to the scene.
The footage ended with clips of the fire response, damage to the premises and promotional images of Rockz Waakye.
