"I treated her to meals out, cinema, bought her a new handbag, etc. We slept in the same bed but had no intercourse because she didn't want any. She also knew I was a pure, so maybe that was a factor," he said.
The man said that when she dumped him, she kept asking for the latest iPhone, but he didn't buy her, claiming it could be one of the reasons she dumped him.
"She was constantly hinting at wanting a new iPhone. I think she broke it off because I wouldn't buy her one. Most insulting thing was after how much time and money I spent on her, she didn't even have the respect to call me, just sent a text and then cut communication. Dating is truly soul-destroying," he added.
Reacting to the man's post, reactions from netizens include:

"No question, she was definitely using you. She wants your money. I have been there when I was a bit younger. I made the mistake of spending too much on a girl who was a notorious user. She dumped me, too, over a cell phone, but after, I bought it for her. What a sucker!

"You were definitely being used. She probably felt very flattered by the attention of a younger man. And of course, she loved that you were spending money on her."

"She was absolutely using you. As a woman in her 30s who also has dated younger men, I'd have never taken advantage of someone like that. It's truly despicable, and I am sorry that this happened to you. Don't give up, there are good ones out there."
ShadyGreenForest said:
"Lesson learned. Stop spending so much money early on. You really don’t ever need to be spending a lot of money. Cheap dinners and coffee dates while getting to know someone. And once you establish something, you both pay for things. And you never need to be buying gifts unless it's a birthday or Christmas, and they should be buying you gifts too and it should all be within hour budget."

"Count your blessings! She would have made your life hell, I bet. Whew, take yourself out for a top-shelf drink and thank the universe for your gift."

"Go reclaim your gifts, friend."

Tony revealed the heartbreak came two days before Valentine's Day and had spent a lot to impress his lover.
"My worst heartbreak was two days to Valentine's Day. I had bought a necklace, booked an Airbnb in Diani and return SGR tickets for a surprise, only for her to call me a day to telling me the guy friend she's been mentioning listens to her and understands her better. I couldn't sleep," he said.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Tony revealed they met on Instagram and had dated for 16 months before the breakup.
After his lover refused to go on holiday with him, he had no choice but to cancel all his plans.
"I asked for refunds but got less than I had paid because they charged cancellation fees," he shared.
Adding:
"She came back after three months and wanted us to get back together...I moved on after six months," he said.
