Abronye’s arrest sparks fears of political bias
YEN.com.gh, in an exclusive interview with Nabil Abubakar, an NPP polling station agent at Accra Kanda, reported that he shared his displeasure with the arrest of Abronye, saying it instills fear in opposition members and undermines democracy.

He also stated that some individuals in the NDC do worse than Abronye with their choice of words, citing Kelvin Taylor as a reference.
He said:
"The decision appears disproportionate and raises concerns about the use of judicial processes to instill fear in opposition voices. The remarks in question, at most, constitute a misdemeanor. To remand an individual and transport him in a Black Maria for merely commenting on the Inspector General of Police and the President projects intimidation rather than justice. It is important to note that in recent years, figures such as Kelvin Taylor and Sammy Gyamfi have made strong criticisms of President Nana Addo and Vice President Bawumia without being subjected to such punitive measures. This inconsistency suggests that the current action may be politically motivated rather than a genuine effort to preserve public peace."
"Yes, it underscores a troubling inconsistency in how bail is administered in politically sensitive cases. In principle, bail decisions should be rooted in fairness, the presumption of innocence, and the nature of the offense."
He continued:
"However, this case reflects a selective approach where political considerations appear to outweigh legal standards. When individuals aligned with the opposition face stricter measures for comparatively minor offenses, it undermines public trust in the neutrality of the justice system. Such patterns risk eroding confidence in both the judiciary and the democratic space."
