Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo took a swipe at the John Mahama government when he spoke to party members at Bantama in the Ashanti Region.
Nana Akufo-Addo said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is not doing well as managers of the country and will lose power to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2028.

The former President said this at the commissioning of a new party office for the Bantama constituency, led by its Member of Parliament, Francis Asenso-Boakye.
In an address to NPP supporters present, Nana Akufo-Addo listed some achievements from his presidency, which he said would help the party return to power in 2028.
He added that the supposed failure of the Mahama-led government will help the NPP return to power in 2028.
“You saw the great works under me and Ex-President Kuffour. We did a lot. These are what we will be using for our campaign to reclaim power. You are witnesses to what is happening under this current administration. Things aren’t going well. After our presidential primaries, we will all come together and work to reclaim power.”
The crowd cheered as Nana Akufo-Addo spoke.

Several senior NPP members and other dignitaries attended the commissioning ceremony.
The Bantama constituency office has since been described as a:
“symbol of unity, grassroots empowerment, and dedication to effective party organisation.”

Mahama pays tribute to Akufo-Addo
YEN.com.gh reported that President John Mahama paid tribute to Nana Akufo-Addo in his inaugural speech after being sworn in on January 7, 2025.
President Mahama described Akufo-Addo as a worthy political opponent and recalled their storied history together.
Mahama also praised Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, his main opponent, for his early concession in the election.
