Video of trotro mate teaching maths stuns Ghanaians

YEN.com.gh has sighted a video of a commercial bus conductor (trotro mate) , teaching mathematics on the phone.

The mate stood in the bus, and while collecting the fares from the passengers, had a call on the phone.

From the conversation, it could be understood that he was teaching his younger brother, or perhaps, his own child to solve algebraic expressions.

This video has warmed the hearts of social media users who have showered praises on the mate.

Their interest in what the mate was doing could be from the fact that they were surprised to see him solving or teaching another person mathematics.

This is due to the common assumption that that kind of job (trotro mate) is reserved for school dropouts and those who have not been to school at all.

However, this mate, whose name is not immediately known to YEN.com.gh, has proven that that notion is not correct at all times, or cannot be applied to all trotro mates, because he is totally different.

The video was first shared by one Kofi Kwei in the Facebook group, Trotro Diaries.

Another social media user, Kwasi Gyamfi Asiedu, who also shared the video, has started mobilizing interested Ghanaians to reach out to the mate for a scholarship to further his education.
