Asiedu Nketiah of the NDC sued for defamation to the tune of GHC 15 million

National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has been sued by the former Auditor General, Edward Dua-Agyeman in a case alleging defamation.

Prof Dua-Agyeman, who is now Board Chairman of the Audit Service, dragged the General Secretary of opposition NDC before an Accra High Court over comments he made on a radio station.

Prof Dua-Agyeman alleges that Asiedu Nketia's comments were intended to damage his reputation and is praying the court to award him GHC 15 million, paid by the defendant as damages.

The Daily Guide reports that Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, is accused of making slanderous statements against the former Auditor General.

One of the alleged comments hold that Prof Agyeman-Dua was found churning out fake audit reports based on which he was sacked by the accountants association.

According to Prof Dua-Agyeman, without basis or probable cause, Asiedu Nketia: “ostensibly sought to impugn the integrity, dignity and reputation of the plaintiff and to ridicule him in the eyes of right-thinking members of society.”

The comments were alleged to have been made on Neat FM in Accra. The NDC general secretary is however yet to comment.
