The transfer fee of the deal was $1,000. He played in the squad for one year after which another team signed him. In Al Sadd, he made eight appearances and scored seven goals.

Between 1983 and 1984, he was signed to Zurich. In Zurich, he made eighteen appearances out of which he scored nine goals. By this time, he was eyeing being signed by either Hearts of Oak FC or Kotoko FC. Unfortunately, none of the two teams signed him up. He, therefore, opted to return to Ghana.

Dragons FC de l'Ouémé

In 1984, he joined Dragons FC de l'Ouémé in Benin. There, he played for one year. For the one year that he was in the team, he made eight appearances and scored eleven goals. Between 1986 and 1987, after the 1985-1986 season in Ghana, Abedi landed an opportunity to join Niort, a team in France. He, later on, joined Mullhouse where he played for a couple of months before landing an opportunity at Marseille in 1987.

Marseille

Abedi's journey towards being the icon that he became was not smooth. He, however, trusted the process and joining Marseille was a glimmer of hope for him. He stayed in the team from 1987 to 1993. In 1994, he left for Lyon where he played for one year before switching to Torino for two years.

1860 Munich

Between 1996 and 1998, Abedi played for 1860 Munich. For the time that he was in the team, he made fifty appearances and scored two goals. After the end of the two years, he left 1860 Munich for Al Ain.

Al Ain

In 1998, Pele left 1860 Munich for Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates. He signed a two-year contract with Al Ain. During the two years that he played for the team, he made thirty-one appearances and scored twenty-eight goals. He also got nominated as the best foreign player playing in the United Arab Emirates League.
