Reggie Rockstone is a popular Ghanaian rapper and dancer. He also wears many hats. He is also a talented actor, husband, and father. The musician launched his music in 1991. Worth noting, he is among the sole pioneers of the Hip-Life Movement that was started in 1994.

During the early days of his music career, he was based in three locations, which include Accra, New York, and London. The turning point in his career took place in 1994 after realizing the rap scene in London was not rewarding enough. He then returned to Accra, where he gained a massive following with his music.

His father is the late fashion designer Ricky Ricci Osei, the first Ghanaian to produce a hiplife album. Reggie Rockstone father was a source of inspiration to many who looked up to him. Reggie Rockstone, through his hit album, Makaa Makaa, which was released in 1997, vividly talks about his dad.

The musician was born on April 11, 1964, in the United Kingdom. He then moved to Ghana during his early life, where he grew to fame to date. Most of his early years were spent in Kumasi and Accra.

Career

The musician joined the music industry in the early '80s as a dancer. His talent and skill for the art saw him recognized as he stood out from the rest. In 1990, he joined the PLZ group, which was famous for its lingua, parables, and slangs. It was not a walk in the park trying to build and grow his career in London. As a result, he chose to go back to his hometown and test the waters.

To his surprise, he garnered a massive following who enjoyed the African American rhythm that was trending in Ghana. In a bid to be unique, he spiced up his music by creating a combination of Hip Hop beats and authentic African dialect. Throughout his career, he has managed to change many lives by nurturing and coaching young talents.

In 2012, he was chosen to be a judge on the fifth edition of the Malta Guinness Street dance competition. He was also honoured to be a judge of the maiden edition of the Glo-X-Factor Africa. In 2009, he was named the ambassador for Globacom to endorse their brand in Ghana.

Today, he is a member of the legendary group VIP, currently known as VVIP. Together with the group, they have released the albums Selfie and Skolom. The musician was also featured in the 344 paged documentary titled Living the hiplife: celebrity and entrepreneurship in Ghanaian popular music, by Jesse Weaver.
