42-year-old Ghanaian man shoots 46-year-old side chick dead in hotel in Kumasi

Edwin Awuku, a 42-year-old man has been arrested by the Kumasi Police after he shot dead his girlfriend, Comfort Owusu Afriyie, at the Cedar Cresent Hotel at Danyame.
Police investigation into the alleged murder revealed that the deceased was shot and killed by the suspect after he reported the incident as a robbery.
Starrfm.com reports that Awuku checked into the hotel with the victim on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at about 1:00 am with his 46-year-old girlfriend, Comfort Owusu Afriyie alias Maame Yaa.
Police confirm that while in the hotel room, the suspect, Awuku, shot the victim in the chest, killing her instantly.
Awuku sustained an injury on his left forefinger in the process.

Sensing danger, Awuku left the hotel premises undetected and drove to his residence at Amakom and informed the wife about the incident and dropped the exhibit weapon and his mobile phones at home.
Both, the suspect and the wife went back to the hotel to raise alarm on the incident, drawing the attention of other persons.
Awuku and his wife later drove to the Central Police Station, where an official complaint of an alleged armed robbery and murder was reported.
However, after preliminary investigations by the police, they retrieved the exhibits, Smith & Wesson SD 9mm Pistol, an empty shell casing and an Infinix Hot 5 mobile phone from suspect’s residence at Amakom, Kumasi.
Starrfm.com confirms that Awuku has been arrested and in custody, while the case docket is being prepared to be sent to the Attorney General’s Office for advice.
