The Lagos state government recently ban okada and tricycles popularly known as keke napep riders from plying major roads in the state. This ban led to many people losing their daily source of income and they protested, urging the government to lift the ban.

During the protest, YEN.com.gh reporters spoke to some Lagosians affected by the ban. A young lady identified simply as Sandra revealed that she makes N20,000 daily working for a motorcycle transportation service.

In the interview, Sandra begged the government to lift the ban, saying that she uses the money she makes to put herself through school.

Olukokun Adepeju, a philanthropist and owner of Kokun Foundation, has come to Sandra's aid.

On Tuesday, February 4, the philanthropist surprised the young lady rider with a Toyota Corolla to register for a car service business. He said she should use proceed from it to sustain her family and continue her education.

Sandra was seen in a video looking surprised after receiving the car. She hugged Kokun and thanked him for giving her the car.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the ban of okada and keke in some major Lagos roads led to violence on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway. Some irate okada riders were seen attacking a BRT bus on the expressway causing a slight delay and roadblock.

It took the intervention of some military men passing on the road before the situation was brought under control. It was gathered that despite the ban, some brave okada riders continue plying the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in spite of the ban.

The riders were seen on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway picking stones and pelting the BRT buses around Ile-Zik end of the expressway. The commotion started after a car hit an okada rider and the attempt an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management to ease off the traffic at the scene proved abortive until military men came on the scene.
