Missing excavators: We have started retrieving them - Operation Vanguard taskforce

- Operation Vanguard leader, Nana Boadi, has revealed that the task force has started retrieving excavators that went missing following their seizure

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that the leader of the special monitoring, evaluation, evacuation and investigation operations of the Operation Vanguard, Nana Boadi, has revealed that the task force has started retrieving excavators that went missing following their seizure.

He disclosed that his team found the excavators on some mining sites and have since repossessed them.

Boadi made this known while speaking in an interview with Joy FM.

"...they are with the miners. We can find them anywhere they are mining and we have started retrieving them.
...at the time the excavators were supposed to evacuate all the machines to Accra, that was when they got the chance to divert them and some were given back by the police and the assembly,” he said.

The leader of the Operation Vanguard team, could, however, not give the exact number of excavators that have been found.

“In the Amansie West District, they have retrieved three and one from Hwidiem in the Ahafo area. We are still counting,” he stated.

He, however, denied reports that over 500 excavators have gone missing.

He explained that while 550 excavators had been seized, only 315 were successfully moved from the mining sites.

In other news, a militia group aligned to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kandahar Boys, has been said to be reportedly responsible for the 400 missing tricycles which was reported in the news.

According to a Joy News report, the Kandahar Boys allegedly forced their way into the premises of the Northern Development Authority and took away 400 tricycles without any approval.
