A commercial bus (trotro) driver has received a commendation after innovatively fixing hand sanitizer and tissue paper in his car in a bid to combat the Coronavirus.

Ghana has been hit with the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and has recorded six cases within the past week.

In order to bring the disease under control, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced a ban on all public gatherings and suspended all schooling in the country.

President Akufo-Addo in his speech also directed that commercial transport operators should ensure strict hygiene practices.

Following the directive, one driver has found an innovative way of providing hand sanitizers and clean tissues as advised by the president's directive.

In a photo sighted by YEN.com.gh, the sanitizer and tissue could be seen fixed to the roof of the car in its middle part.

Since the photo of the trotro driver's proactiveness popped up, Ghanaians have been hailing him on social media.

The trotro driver's innovation comes after Chinese billionaire Jack Ma announced a donation of medical supplies to Ghana and all other African countries.

The donation is from the Alibaba founder to help Africa prepare adequately for a potential surge in the number of cases of Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the government has placed a ban on travellers from countries with 200 or more Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.

The travel ban was announced by Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at a press briefing on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
